You have been showing your generosity by donating books, building materials, party supplies, Market study supporting materials, and contributing fresh green vegetables for the school pet. We had a discussion about people in need and how some people don't have a home and some people might have a home, but don’t have any money for food. The children were noticing how different and diverse were the people in these books. We have been reading books about neighborhoods that are very different from ours, books such as “Baby Goes to market” and “Last Stop on Market Street”. The children are continuing to learn about and appreciate the people, places, and things in our neighborhood. We have been counting beads and buttons, playing dice fitness and playing memory game “Memory games are good for your brain!” The children were invited to make observational painting and paper models of freshly cut daffodils. The artists and scientists have been enjoying the art making process under the rain and use their knowledge of the behavior of the ink from the markers when they bleed on the wet paper. Pennsylvania's most famous groundhog emerged from his burrow on a snowy Tuesday morning and saw his shadow, declaring there would be six more weeks of winter. The Sandpipers scientists were very curious about the 135-years old American and Canadian tradition of the Groundhog Day.
